A 17-year-old from Wisconsin is facing state and federal charges after allegedly murdering his parents in a violent bid to raise money and gain freedom to carry out a plan to assassinate US President Donald Trump and spark a revolution, authorities revealed in newly unsealed court documents.
Nikita Casap was arrested in March and is accused of fatally shooting his mother, Tatiana Casap, 35, and stepfather, Donald Mayer, 51, in their Waukesha home.
As per CNN, investigators believe the murders took place on February 11, although their decomposed bodies were not discovered until a welfare check was conducted on February 28. Tatiana was found under piles of blankets near the kitchen, while Mayer was located in a first-floor office with a gunshot wound to the head, the New York Post reported.
According to an FBI affidavit cited by USA Today, Casap carried out the killings to “obtain the financial means and autonomy necessary” for his larger goal, assassinating Trump and overthrowing the US government. A three-page document found on Casap’s phone allegedly calls for chaos by eliminating political leaders. “By getting rid of the president and perhaps the vice president, that is guaranteed to bring in some chaos,” the document reads.
Federal agents also uncovered images of Adolf Hitler accompanied by phrases like “Hail Hitler, Hail the white race, Hail victory,” and texts accusing Jewish people of promoting “white genocide,” reported CNN. Authorities said Casap had been in contact with a person in Russia as part of the alleged conspiracy and had communicated with others aware of his plans.
Casap reportedly purchased or attempted to purchase a drone and explosives “to be used as a weapon of mass destruction,” according to the federal affidavit, reported The New York Post.
His phone also contained extremist content linked to the neo-Nazi group “The Order of Nine Angles.”
He was arrested hours after the bodies were discovered, during a traffic stop in Kansas, where police found him in possession of Mayer’s stolen SUV, a gun, ammunition, and roughly $14,000 in cash.
The teen is facing nine state felony charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and hiding corpses, and three federal charges, conspiracy, attempted presidential assassination, and use of weapons of mass destruction. He has not entered any plea and remains in custody on a $1 million bond. His arraignment is scheduled for May 7.
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office has urged the public to come forward with any information, stressing that the charges reflect a “meticulous investigation” to ensure public safety.
