After months of tough competition, terrific performances and heartbreaking eliminations, Indian Idol Season 15 got its winner on Sunday. The young and talented singer from Kolkata, given her victory, took home the coveted trophy, a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh, and a brand-new car. Throughout the season, she continued to win hearts with her soulful performances, earning admiration from both judges and audiences alike which eventually took her to claim the trophy.

Hailing from Kolkata, West Bengal, Manasi Ghosh had a knack for music since childhood. She decided to become a professional singer when she was in the 8th grade and there has been no turning back since then. Determined to achieve her goals, she continued to work towards her dream but not without facing her own challenges. During a special episode, her parents joined her on stage, reflecting on her tough childhood. Revealing how she took on financial responsibilities at a young age, the proud parents recalled when Manasi told them, “I will buy you many houses.”
The details around Manasi’s formal education are under wraps. As for her musical journey, she embarked on the same long before her Indian Idol stint. Following years of practice and classes, she participated in multiple singing competitions in the past to improve her skills and stage presence. Her passion for music, then, led her to reach Mumbai, competing against some talented performers on the Indian Idol platform. Her melodious voice and exemplary performances soon brought her into the limelight, thereby impressing the judges — Shreya Ghoshal, Badshah and Vishal Dadlani. From soulful ballads to energetic tracks, she proved her versatility with her memorable performances and ability to connect emotionally with each performance.
Manasi’s victory is not the only reason she is making headlines for. Even before bagging the trophy, she had already recorded her first Bollywood song. Talking about the same, she told SCREEN, “My Bollywood debut is a duet song with Lalit Pandit and Shaan sir. It’s already recorded.” She added, “It’s for an upcoming film. Badshah sir and I will be doing something next,” before signing off.
The grand finale, aired on Sony Entertainment Television, saw Manasi against strong finalists Subhajit Chakraborty and Sneha Shankar to claim the top spot.
