When young Sharmila Tagore pinned a rose on former Indian PM Jawaharlal Nehru’s jacket | – The Times of India


Saba Ali Khan, the younger Pataudi, is renowned in the film industry for sharing classic throwbacks and endearing pictures of the Nawab family. Amongst the throwback montages, Khan shared one of her mother, Sharmila Tagore, including the picture where the veteran actress was pinning the rose on former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s jacket while she was young.

In an 2022’s Instagram post, Saba Ali Khan shared a couple of pictures, including the young Tagore, who is dancing among the child artists on the stage, looking in the mirror, and pinning the rose. Furthermore, the pictures included Tagore when she grew up, where she had rollers in her hair, posing like the amazing actor that she is. The last photo belonged closer to the hearts as it captured a happy moment between the couple, Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan. Captioning the video, “A STAR 🌟 is Born…..! A child protégé…A Star. Proud of you! Wish you life’s best moments, always…Keep shining!” she lauded her mother.

Endearing comments by the fans

The fans of the ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’ actress were glad to see the never-seen-before photos. Some appreciated the grace of the actress, while others aspired to be like her. One user commented, “Bahot khoobsurat (very beautiful).” Another person penned, “How can someone be soooo beautiful.” A third user claimed, “Old is always gold,” while the fourth exclaimed, “Wow such amazing unseen photos!!”

The legacy of Sharmila Tagore

Born in 1944, Sharmila has made an indelible mark in the Indian film industry, creating a legacy. Related to the polymath Rabindranath Tagore, the actress is known for her proficiency and elegance. Appraising as one of the greatest actresses, she did not shy away from making daring choices – and standing out amongst the rest.
Tagore tied her knot in 1968 with former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan, and they have three children – Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan, who extended Tagore’s legacy to be successful actors, and Saba Ali Khan, who pioneered her way and is a jewellery designer.
Sharmila Tagore received India’s third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, in 2013 for her contribution towards Indian culture.
