Film-maker Tahira Kashyap who is also Ayushmann Khurrana‘s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. She underwent mastectomy and fought the disease bravely. All seemed well but Tahira just announced on Monday that her cancer has relapsed but she’s still got it, this time around as well. Ayushmann commented on her post saying, “My hero” as he appreciated her spirit and never give up attitude.
Here’s recalling the time when Ayushmann spoke about how he was hiding in the hospital when first time they got to know about Tahira’s breast cancer. He was quite shaken. He spoke about it in a podcast started by Tahira to speak about her breast cancer journey. Ayushmann said on ‘My Ex-Breast podcast‘, “I was hiding behind a pillar, the security guy, and feeling terrible. We were together in Delhi when we got to know about it from a doctor, we didn’t know at all. There was a time when both of us were very vulnerable sitting in a hospital. Again, you know people are asking for pictures where we were sitting by.”
He had also praised Tahira and said, “We were together in this fight, but I was getting so inspired by her that she probably became stronger than me. She has a great presence. It doesn’t come from her hairstyle, it comes from her chanting, practice, the person she has become, her experiences in life, and the sum of everything.”
Tahira shared the news of her cancer relapsing as she wrote, “Seven year itch or the power of regular screening- it’s a perspective, I had like to go with the latter and suggest the same for everyone who needs to get regular mammograms. Round 2 for me…I still got this.”
Tahira and Ayushmann have been high school sweethearts and they dated for a few years before they got married. They have two children.
