US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to China, threatening to impose additional tariffs of 50 per cent on Chinese goods if Beijing does not withdraw its recent 34 per cent tariff hike by April 8, 2025.
Trump announced that these new tariffs would take effect on April 9, 2025, if China fails to comply.
In his statement, Trump said, “Yesterday, China issued Retaliatory Tariffs of 34%, on top of their already record-setting Tariffs, Non-Monetary Tariffs, Illegal Subsidisation of companies, and massive long-term Currency Manipulation, despite my warning that any country that Retaliates against the US by issuing additional Tariffs, above and beyond their already existing long term Tariff abuse of our Nation, will be immediately met with new and substantially higher Tariffs, over and above those initially set.”
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
