Asit Modi, producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, confirmed the search for Dayaben is almost over. Disha Vakani, who played the role, left in 2017. Kajal Pisal denied rumors of her casting.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah makers have been hunting for a new Dayaben for a long time now.
Just a few days ago, News18 had exclusively broken the news that the hunt for Dayaben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is almost over. The role was earlier played by Disha Vakani until she quit the show in 2017 to focus on her children. And now Asit Modi, producer of the show, has broken his silence on it.
Asit Modi told SCREEN, “People have been eagerly waiting for Daya Bhabhi, and I will finalise her soon. People say that without Dayaben, they don’t enjoy the show as much, and I agree. We, as a team, are trying to fill Daya Bhabhi’s absence as much as we can. But she will return soon.”
When asked about Disha Vakani’s return, Asit Kumar Modi said, “We can only pray that Disha Vakani returns as the character. She is like my sister, and she has some family duties to fulfill, which is why it might be difficult for her to return. We miss her even today. She was very sincere and caring towards her co-stars and the team. We hope to find someone just like that.”
Meanwhile, it was widely reported later that television actress Kajal Pisal will play the role of Dayaben in TMKOC. Adding to that, pictures of Kajal as Dayaben started going viral on social media. Reacting to the speculation, the actress has now clarified that the news is fake and the viral photos are old. She said that there is no truth to it.
“I am already working on Jhanak, so this is entirely incorrect. Yes, I did audition for Daya Ben in 2022, and those pictures are resurfacing now. But as of now, I can confirm that this is totally fake news,” Kajal told Zoom TV.
Back in 2022, Pisal posted a picture of herself in Dayaben’s iconic look on Instagram, mentioning that she had attended a look test but never heard back from the show’s makers. She wrote in caption, “In no way it has affected my career. Just that I felt playing Daya will be my biggest opportunity but everything is about DESTINY. I’m an artist and will continue to give my best to upcoming projects.”
