‘Sikandar’ box office collection Day 16: Salman Khan’s Eid release slumps to new low; earns Rs 26 lakh on third Monday | – The Times of India

Sikandar, the big-budget action drama starring Salman Khan in the lead, experienced a significant drop in box office collections on its 16th day at the box office.
In what is reportedly his lowest earning from the film thus far, the movie earned an estimated Rs 26 lakh net, according to early estimates on Sacnilk.com. This marks a steep decline from its opening day collection of Rs 26 crore.
The film that released on Sunday, March 30, recorded its highest collection on the Eid holiday, which clocked in an estimated Rs 29 crore on its first Monday. However, on its second Monday, the film saw its numbers drop to an estimated Rs 1.75 crore.
Sikandar, which amassed around Rs 90 crore in its first week, added another Rs 17 crore in its second week, when it crossed the Rs 100 crore mark. However, it showed little to no growth in its third week at the box office.
Despite its wide release on approximately 5,500 screens across India, the film’s performance has been underwhelming, with several shows reportedly cancelled due to low occupancy. The film’s current total now stands at Rs 109 crore, just shy of the Rs 110 crore mark. According to reports, considering the film’s big budget, it would need to earn over Rs 200 crore to make up production costs. However, this milestone now appears challenging given its current trajectory.
Directed by A.R. Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Sikandar features an ensemble cast that includes Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, and Kajal Aggarwal.
The film’s production house on the other hand, claims that the film’s overall global box office collection has grossed over Rs 200 crore.
With a sharp decline in earnings and diminishing audience turnout, Sikandar faces an uphill battle to recover its costs and achieve box office success.
