In a rare Tuesday double-header in IPL, we saw a ton of movement across the tables that matter: the points sheet, the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap.
Both matches went to the last over. In the day game, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a narrow four-run win over the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In the evening in Chandigarh, Punjab Kings (PBKS) won more comfortably, with a 22-run margin.
Though both contests were high-scoring, bowlers and good bowling spells did have their say in the decisions. Check below how the Purple Cap rankings shaped up after the match.
Most Wickets in IPL 2025 – Purple Cap leaderboard after PBKS vs CSK match
CSK made the curious call not to bowl out leg-spinner Noor Ahmad against PBKS. Still, the Afghan managed to pick up a wicket and extended his lead at the top of the wickets chart with now 11 scalps at an economy rate of 8.33.
Khaleel Ahmed continued his good form, too. The left-arm pacer took two quick wickets upfront for CSK, one of them being PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer who was clean-bowled and jumped to number three (or joint-second) in the rankings with 10 wickets.
LSG’s unlikely pace-attack leader Shardul Thakur also had a good day with the ball and took two wickets to rise to number six with nine wickets.
Further down in the top-10, Krunal Pandya is now being followed by LSG’s shining light in the spin department: Digvesh Rathi, who has not picked up more than five wickets even once and has an economy rate of 7.75.
