IPL 2025 Points Table: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made significant gains in the IPL 2025 points table with their massive 80-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens on Thursday (April 3). It was SRH’s heaviest defeat in IPL history (by runs) and a fifth consecutive one against the Knight Riders.
The story was same as the last year when they lost all three matches against the Men in Purple and Gold. Despite getting early wickets of openers Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine, SRH failed to contain KKR‘s middle-order. Angrkish Raghuvanshi and Venkatesh Iyer scored half-centuries while Rinku Singh also contributed with a handy 17-ball 32 that took the hosts to 200/6.
In reply, KKR’s new-ball duo of Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana broke the back of the chase by sending the top-three of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan back cheaply. KKR’s powerful middle-over leaders took over as Varun Chakaravarthy took three, Vaibhav took another, Sunil Narine took one and Andre Russell two to bowl out the Orange Army for just 120.
KKR came to this match as the bottom-placed team in the league with one win from three games and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -1.428. The 80-run win couldn’t have come at a better time for them as it not only pushed them to fifth so far but also took their NRR in the positive at 0.070.
SRH, on the other hand, were just about holding out at the eighth spot with a NRR of -0.871 (thanks to back-to-back big defeats). But now, they have fallen down to the 10th spot with the NRR halved further to -1.612.

8 | Chennai Super Kings | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | -0.771 | 2 |
9 | Rajasthan Royals | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | -1.112 | 2 |
10 | Sunrisers Hyderabad | 4 | 1 | 3 | 0 | -1.612 | 2 |
SRH were the finalists last season and started this year with a huge win over Rajasthan Royals which suggested that they had the tools to probably go all the way. Now, Pat Cummins and Co. need some motivation, luck and a lot of effort to break this three-match losing streak and get back to winning ways.
Punjab Kings, meanwhile, continue their rein at the top with Delhi Capitals at second.
