Sunita Ahuja prays for son Yashvardhan’s Bollywood debut.
As Chaitra Navratri ushers in nine nights of devotion, fasting, and prayers, Sunita Ahuja—the wife of Bollywood icon Govinda—is turning her faith toward a deeply personal hope: the success of her son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, as he prepares to enter the Hindi film industry.
In a heartfelt conversation with IANS, Sunita shared how she’s been seeking blessings from Mata Rani, the divine mother goddess worshipped during Navratri, for her son’s debut. “I have been praying to Mata Rani that Yash shall receive a lot of Yash (fame), and he shall make a mark of himself in the world,” she said, using a poetic play on her son’s name.
More than just material success, Sunita expressed a mother’s instinctive hopes—for protection, recognition, and fulfillment. “I’ve asked Mata Rani to always protect him, to keep him safe from negativity and the evil eye. He should be blessed with a lot of name, fame, and wealth. But above all, may he always be grounded and loved.”
Sunita also revealed how Yashvardhan is observing Chaitra Navratri in his own way. Known to follow a high-protein non-vegetarian diet for fitness l, the debutant has completely stopped eating meat for the duration of the festival—a gesture of devotion and self-discipline. “He’s not fasting, but he’s showing his respect by abstaining from non-veg. That means a lot to me as a mother,” she added.
Yashvardhan Ahuja is all set to make his Bollywood debut in a film helmed by National Award-winning director Sai Rajesh, whose critically acclaimed Telugu films such as Colour Photo, Hrudaya Kaleyam, and Baby have earned him a strong fanbase and industry respect. Known for his emotional storytelling and sharp character work, Sai Rajesh’s foray into Bollywood is just as exciting as Yashvardhan’s.
What makes this debut even more special is the casting—Yashvardhan will be sharing screen space with Babil Khan, son of the late cinematic legend Irrfan Khan, in what promises to be a heartfelt, character-driven drama. With two star kids from two different cinematic legacies coming together, the film is already drawing early attention from fans and critics alike.
The yet-to-be-titled project is being produced by a powerful team: Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind, and SKN Films—names associated with high-quality storytelling and box office hits. While the female lead has not yet been finalized, the casting buzz continues to add to the film’s mystique. The movie is slated for release later this year.
Yashvardhan is no stranger to the world of cinema. Before stepping in front of the camera, he spent years learning the ropes behind the scenes. He worked as an assistant director on notable films such as Dishoom, Baaghi, and Kick 2, gaining first-hand experience in the mechanics of filmmaking and set life.
Sunita believes this grounded entry into the industry will help her son stay humble and hardworking. “He’s seen the process from the ground up. He’s not walking in blind. That gives me hope. He’s serious about his craft,” she said.
She also acknowledged the pressure that comes with being a star kid, especially the son of an actor as iconic as Govinda. “It’s not easy carrying that legacy. People have expectations. But Yash is carving his own path and taking it one step at a time.”
Sunita also touched upon her daughter Tina Ahuja, who has been quietly building her career in the entertainment space. “With the blessings of Mata Rani, Tina has been doing a lot of good work and collaborations. She’s finding her way, and I’m proud of both my children.”
As she wrapped up the conversation, Sunita’s tone turned emotional but full of resolve. “I’m a mother first. I want to see my children do well, stay happy, stay safe. And I believe that with faith, hard work, and blessings, everything will fall into place.”
As the industry awaits Yashvardhan’s big-screen debut, it’s clear that he has not just legacy behind him, but the unwavering strength of a mother’s prayers guiding his journey forward.
