A conference on Marine Biodiversity, Genomics, and Sustainable Development will be held at the School of Marine Sciences, Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) here from April 9 to 11.
The programme is being organised jointly by the Department of Marine Biology, Microbiology & Biochemistry, Cusat, in association with the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Ministry of Earth Sciences, and Cusat-NCPOR Centre for Polar Sciences, according to a release.
Dr. Thamban Meloth, director, National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, will inaugurate the programme at the CIFNET Auditorium in Foreshore Road. The conference will center around six major themes, including Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, Sustainable Fisheries, Aquaculture and Blue Economy, Marine Biotechnology and Genomics, Marine Microbiology and Anti-Microbial Resistance, Polar Biology, Climate Change and Ocean Health and Marine Natural Products and Drug Discovery, according to the release.
