A Bhojpuri song titled Drum Mei Raja, which refers to the horrific Meerut murder case, has been igniting fury among people. The song’s lyrics speak of a man facing threats of being confined to a drum if he upsets a woman. Not just that, the song video also shows the dancers using ‘blue drums’ to perform, drawing similarities to the developments of the Meerut case. While internet users have been condemning the lyrics and visuals, TV star Manisha Rani has also spoken out against the song.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Manisha shared a video and condemned the Bhojpuri singer as well as the content creators making posts out of the spoof video. In the video, Manisha, while referring to the particular music video in question, asserted that such content disrespects the victims and also mocks the pain of their loved ones, turning the criminal act into an insensitive trend.
“You people should have some shame. Someone has lost his life; it is such a serious topic, and you have made a joke of it. I have also seen many content creators making funny videos on the drum incident. If something like this happens around you, will you do the same? Put yourself in the same position and think how his mother would feel after seeing the video. Have you ever thought about it?” she said. Manisha even urged the government to ban the particular YouTube channel and urged viewers to block and report such content creators and channels.
“Itne sensitive topic ko aise deal karte hai?” Manisha captioned the video.
Coming back to the case, the investigations revealed that Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer, was killed on March 4 in Meerut’s Indiranagar. His wife, Muskan, and her lover, Sahil, have been accused of drugging him and stabbing him to death before they dismembered his body, severed his head and hands, and hid them in a blue drum filled with cement.
Both the accused are currently in judicial custody, with Muskan now found to be pregnant inside the jail.
